SUMMARY
The Analyst supports the Direct Lending group by providing analytical and underwriting support to senior team members in the management, advancement, and resolution of Floating Rate and Mezzanine loans in Rialto’s portfolio. The Analyst contributes to property-level performance analysis, loan document review, valuation models, and recurring reporting packages that underpin the VP’s oversight of specially serviced CLO loans and other distressed debt assets. Through this work, the Analyst gains exposure to the full spectrum of direct lending activity — from performing loan requests and borrower negotiations through complex resolution strategies across CMBS, equity recapitalizations, and mezzanine positions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze property-level performance through detailed review of operating statements, rent rolls, and lease agreements.
- Evaluate and abstract loan documents to assess structure, covenants, and compliance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with borrowers, legal counsel, property managers, lenders, servicers, and internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate and structure complex real estate and financing transactions.
- Conduct in-depth research on U.S. real estate markets and engage with market participants, including brokers, to gather actionable intelligence.
- Perform comprehensive analysis of loan collateral, including valuation, risk assessment, and resolution alternatives.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
- Prepare valuation models and cash flow analyses for loan resolutions, incorporating Borrower proposals and scenario testing (DCF / IRR / NPV) across multiple strategies.
- Underwrite prospective investment opportunities across CMBS, equity recapitalizations, asset and portfolio acquisitions, and mezzanine/preferred equity positions.
- Prepare recurring reporting packages (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) for executive management and external stakeholders.
- Underwrite performing loan requests—including reserve disbursements, lease approvals, loan extensions, and other borrower actions—ensuring compliance with loan documentation.
- Effectively uses AI to support research, synthesize information, analyze data, develop insights, and streamline workflows. Applies critical judgment to validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, and completeness to finalize deliverables. Uses AI responsibly in accordance with company policies, confidentiality requirements, information-security standards, and applicable governance practices. Maintains awareness of evolving AI capabilities and identifies opportunities to appropriately integrate new tools into day-to-day work.
SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required preferably specializing in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business field.
- 1+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, underwriting, loan servicing, or a related field; relevant internship experience will be considered.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- AI & Technology Fluency: Demonstrates proficiency in using AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance productivity, analysis, problem-solving, and work quality, applying critical judgment to validate and finalize outputs.
